Pakistani scholars are concerned that the Urdu script is missing for technology

Pakistan SMS-happy, a lot of young people write their text in the message using the Latin alphabet, rather than the traditional Urdu script. That has some concerned that classic script will be lost.

Mobile users in Pakistan send an average of 128 per text messages per month in 2009, government figures showed.

It was the fifth highest number among all countries in the world. Driven by texting, a growing number of Pakistan use the Latin alphabet for writing Urdu, the national language, instead of using the Urdu script.

Although the trend is limited, has left some Urdu Puritan concerned about what happens if the trend continues.
